Our Custom Home Building Process
When it comes to building your custom home, there are quite a few steps to go through. We work with you through each of those steps, so you can feel confident in what your dream home will look like. Here’s what you can expect when working with us as your builder.
step one:
initial consult
We like to get to know our clients, their hopes and concerns, budget, and expectations before the project begins. It's important for us to get a sense of your dream home before we begin building it. Your home will be unique because it's tailored to suit you in every detail.
step TWO:
DESIGN
We’ll design your home from the ground up, but we can’t do it without you. We want to create a space that reflects your personality and style, so every decision is yours—there are no details too small or big. Our team works hard to make sure we include all the features you love while keeping the budget within your comfort zone.
step THREE:
CONSTRUCTION
After we complete the custom home design, construction begins. Our contractors take every safety precaution necessary, adhering to city codes for new home construction while building your home. High-quality craftsmanship is not something we sacrifice in our effort to keep things on or ahead of schedule. We carefully construct and customize all the details and features you choose for the home’s design, so you can move in right away.

How long does it take to build a custom home?When you choose to custom build your home, the construction time can range from six months to over a year, depending on the home type and size. But that’s just construction time; when you’re custom building a home, you also need to factor in planning, draft plans (or other drawings), design the interior and exterior spaces, purchase lots in an area you like, help in the design process, as well as build time. You’ll also need to take time to find a lot in an area you like, buy your land and help with the design process of your home. When you choose to custom build your home, you have anywhere from a year and a half to two years to complete your home. Pre-construction and planning alone can take three to six months or up to a year to complete, especially if you aren’t sure what kind of home you want. However, our team will work quickly and efficiently to help you get into your custom home as soon as possible. Though custom home building takes longer than buying a pre-built house, the wait is worth it to have your home be exactly what you want.

Do I get to pick my own lot for my custom home?When you work with MAKO Enterprises, you can choose a lot for your new home. Or we can help you find one that's right for you. Choosing the perfect plot for your forever home can be an exciting task, and many of our clients enjoy handling the search themselves. But it can also be overwhelming, and we understand our custom home-building clients vary when it comes to goals and situations. If you choose to select your own lot, we are always available for consultation and assistance.

After all, it is your home, so you should be able to customize it in any way you like. When we design your home, we not only give you the power to decide what rooms you want and how many, but also how large each room will be.
